European Athletics has officially opened applications for the 2026 edition of its Coach Networking Project, inviting high-performance coaches from across the continent to become part of a growing community dedicated to learning, collaboration and the exchange of coaching expertise.
The application deadline is 10 July 2026.

Now entering its fourth year, the Coach Networking Project forms part of the European Athletics High Performance Programme and has established itself as an important platform for coaches to share ideas, discuss challenges and develop new approaches to coaching in an interactive online environment.
Four areas of expertise
The 2026 programme introduces four new specialist groups:
- Off-Road
- Long Jump
- Shot Put
- Junior to Senior Development
Each group will be led by two internationally respected Lead Coaches:
- Off-Road - Jackie Newton (DEN) and Tito Tiberti (ITA)
- Long Jump - Lars Nielsen (DEN) and Darren Ritchie (GBR)
- Shot Put - Paul Wilson (GBR) and Staffan Jönsson (SWE)
- Junior to Senior Development - Laura Turner (GBR) and Alan Richardson (GBR)
Participants will take part in a minimum of one 90-minute online meeting each month from September 2026 to March 2027. With a maximum of eight coaches in each group, the programme is designed to encourage meaningful discussion, peer learning and the development of strong coaching networks across Europe.
Professional commitment
The project is aimed at experienced coaches who are currently working with international athletes and are committed to their own professional development.
Coaches should hold an education level equivalent to or above World Athletics Level 2, have experience in designing and delivering training programmes, and be willing to actively contribute to discussions in English.

Successful applicants will also demonstrate an openness to sharing knowledge, providing constructive feedback and supporting the wider development of coaching across Europe.
Each Member Federation may nominate up to four coaches, with a maximum of one coach per discipline.
As places are limited, participants will be selected based on the strength of their application, including their motivation to engage with fellow coaches and their ability to contribute to the learning environment.
By connecting coaches from different countries and backgrounds, the Coach Networking Project continues to strengthen the European coaching community while helping to improve athlete performance through the sharing of knowledge and best practice.
Applications close on 10 July 2026. Coaches interested in participating should contact their Member Federation to be nominated before completing the application process.
