Borlée Senior to speak at IFAC

Home
Jacques Borlée, coach and father to the Borlée family of athletes, is to speak at the International Festival of Athletics Coaching on 25-27 October 2013 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Coach to his four children as well as an Olympian and European indoor medallist in his own right, Jacques Borlée has put the family name and Belgium on the map.

His coaching journey started with his daughter Olivia, who asked her dad, a European indoor silver medallist over 200m in 1983, to coach her. With sprinting in the genes, Olivia took Olympic silver as part of the 4x100m relay team at the Beijing Olympics back in 2008.

Three years later, twin brothers Jonathan and Kevin came to the fore at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, Kevin winning bronze in the 400m and Jonathan fifth. At the London Olympic Games the twins finished 5th and 6th in the final of the 400m, with Kevin edging out his brother by 0.02 seconds.

This year at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow, the Borlées made another athletics first by having three family members in the same relay team. With younger brother Dylan joining the twin brothers in the 4x400m the Belgium team finished a credible 5th in the world final.

Earlier this month, at the Brussels Diamond League, all three brothers made history when they lined up against each other in the 400m – a first for a Grand Prix, Golden League or Diamond League meeting.

Jacques will be sharing his knowledge at the 2013 edition of the IFAC discussing his coaching philosophy and periodisation for sprints.
