Brno and Fenerbahce are the junior club champions

There was home delight for host club AK Olymp Brno in the women's event and Fenerbahce Spor Kulubu, of Türkiye, in the men's at the European Champion Clubs Cup.

The competition in the Czech Republic was the final major team tournament of the summer season, giving the under-20 athletes the chance to shine.

And shine they did in this European Athletics event at Palacky Hill with Brno winning the women's competition with 112 points from Fenerbache with 109 and Great Britain's Blackheath & Bromley with 106.

In the men's event, Fenerbahce triumphed with 126 from Great Britain's Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers with 96 and Playas de Castellon, of Spain, with 95.

The women's event was finally settled on the last relay which saw Brno finish third in 3:58.67 as Blackheath won in 3:52.97 and Fenerbahce were second in 3:57.54.

But it was enough points to give Brno victory on a day when they won a series of individual events.

Barbora Blahutova took the 3000m in 10:56.40 from Gizem Yumak, of Fenerbahce, in 10:58.04 while Lucie Koudelova won the 100m hurdles in 13.81 from Bromley's Jahisha Thomas in 14.14.

The women's competition saw meeting records for Shannon Hylton, of Blackheath, as she won the 100m in 11.71, and then she was part of the Blackheath quartet which won the 4 x 100m relay in 46.28.

The men's competition had a tremendous finish in the 100m as Marcel Kadlec, of ASK Slavia Praha, took the title in 10.70, with Fenerbache's Fatih Aktas second in the same time.

But Aktas then turned that second place into victory in the 200m in 21.44, another personal best, from Praha's Michal Tlusty in 21.65.

Ersin Tekal gave Fenerbache victory in 3000m in 9:29.71 while they also won the 4 x 400m in 3:20.07 from Praha's in 3:20.68 and Castellon in 3:20.80.
