Home favourite Petr Meindlschmid took victory in the sixth round of the men’s long jump at the Otrokovice Jump 2025, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Challenger meeting, on Wednesday (22) afternoon.

The 19-year-old, who is eligible for this year’s European Athletics U20 Championships in Tampere, lost the lead in the penultimate jump of the competition when Benin’s Romeo N’Tia jumped 7.68m but Meindlschmid showed his competitive mettle with his response by leaping out to 7.70m on his sixth attempt - the last jump of the competition - to seal the win.

Meindlschmid is also in a ranking position for the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships from 6-9 March.

The Czech teenage talent excelled on his senior debut at the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships last summer when he finished seventh despite being the youngest athlete in the final with a personbal best of 8.03m.

There was also home success for Linda Sucha in the women’s triple jump. Sucha jumped 13.71m, an indoor best and the second best jump of her career, for victory over Germany’s Sarah-Michelle Kudla with 13.62m.
