Two-lap Thriller: Badged as race of the championships, the women’s 800m truly delivered. It took a magnificent championship record from Switzerland’s Audrey Werro to take the European title away from Keely Hodgkinson, who was made for settle for silver in a thrilling finale, with Dutchwoman Femke Broeders-Bol winning bronze. 

 

Endurance History Maker: Fresh from 5000m glory earlier in the week, Nadia Battocletti’s outstanding win in the 10,000m saw the Italian become the first woman in history to retain both the European 5,000m & 10,000m titles. 

 

Leaps & Throws: Friday evening's field event finals at Alexander Stadium delivered exceptional quality, with Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi claiming the men's high jump gold with a clearance of 2.32m, while Dutchwoman Jorinde van Klinken secured the women's discus crown with a commanding 67.67m throw. 

 

Karsten the Great: Karsten Warholm blew away his 400m hurdles rivals, the Norwegian superstar running a championship record time of 46.63 to win yet another medal in front of an adoring UK crowd. 

 

Ansah-ing the Call: Germany's Owen Ansah surged away off the bend to capture European 200m gold in 19.95, with home favorite Zharnel Hughes forced to settle for silver in 20.16.

Heptathlon Decider: Poland's Adrianna Sułek-Schubert holds a slender overnight lead of 3,968 points after a stellar opening day, narrowly ahead of the Netherlands' Sofie Dokter and Ireland's Kate O'Connor, as the heptathlon prepares for Saturday's decisive concluding events in the long jump, javelin and 800m 

 

Relay Showdowns: The blue-riband sprint relays take center stage under the lights tomorrow night, with the 4x100m finals promising lightning-fast exchanges and high-stakes drama.  

 

Field Finales: Saturday’s field action offers a powerhouse triple-header: the men’s triple jump, the men’s javelin, and the women’s high jump, where home interest sits with Morgan Lake.  

 

One-Lap Clash: European number one Henriette Jager, Dutch star Lieke Klaver, and British duo Amber Anning and Yemi Mary John are among the field for what promises to be a pulsating women’s 400m final this evening.
