Amy Hunt became the first athlete in European Athletics Championships history to win four gold medals in the same edition in Birmingham on Sunday (16) evening.
Having already won the 100m, 200m and women’s 4x100m, a power-packed British quartet which also included Dina Asher-Smith, Zharnel Hughes and Jeremiah Azu combined to win gold in the mixed 4x100m and break the European record with 39.97.

Asher-Smith also set another record by becoming the most bemedalled athlete in European Athletics Championships history. After equalling Irena Szewinska's record of 10 medals in the women's 4x100m last night, Asher-Smith secured the record outright tonight.
Georgia Hunter Bell added to the British title haul in the women’s 1500m but the Italians pipped the Brits to the top of the medal table. After Larissa Iapichino won the long jump, an Italian quartet anchored by Lorenzo Benati held off Charlie Dobson in the men’s 4x400m for Italy’s 10th gold medal of the championships to the host’s nine.
Normal service was resumed for Armand Duplantis who won his fourth successive European title with a championship record of 6.15m to fend off the challenge of his friend and long-time contemporary Emmanouil Karalis who cleared 6.00m and threatened to go higher.
