Fresh from winning women’s U23 gold at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa, Maria Forero is straight back into international action at the Cross Internacional de Venta de Banos in her native Spain on Sunday (21).

She will be joined at the start line by Spanish teammate Angela Viciosa, who finished 18th in the senior women’s race at Lagoa.

The pre-race favourite will be Kenya Dorcus Chepkwemoi, who will be going for her second successive World Cross Country Tour Gold meeting triumph, having won in Eldoret two weeks ago.

The men’s field is headed by Aaron Las Heras, who was 9th in the senior men’s race in Lagoa.

He will be no doubt be pressed by Spanish team-mate Nassim Hassaous, winner of this race last year ahead of Las Heras. Morocco’s Abderraahmane Aferdi, Kenya’s Brian Kiptoo and Burundi’s Eric Nzambimana will lead the international challenge.
