European U23 3000m steeplechase champion Maciej Megier headlines Poland’s 22-strong squad for the Lagoa 2025 SPAR European Cross Country Championships on 14 December.

He was 19th in the U23 men’s race last year in Antalya, but having won gold at the Bergen 2025 European Athletics U23 Championships this year, the 22-year-old returns to the event with proven championship pedigree this time.

Megier wants to show best in Lagoa

“Cross is a great place for a steeplechaser, and I always enjoy training in terrain like this. At the European Championships I want to show my best side,” he told the Polish Athletics Federation website.

Poland’s team was selected after the national cross-country championships in Lubin on Saturday (22). Although Filip Rak, who won 1500m bronze in Bergen 2025, has withdrawn from the event, the rest of the Polish squad continues preparations for Lagoa 2025  at a training camp in Wałcz.

Poland has also named a team for the mixed relay, adding further depth to its presence in Lagoa.
