It was a record-breaking week for the European Athletics Team Championships in Maribor and Madrid with 13 championships records, three world leads, eight European leads and 56 national records set across 1st, 2nd and 3rd Division competitions.
It included Jaël Bestué’s sensational women’s 200m win at the 1st Division in Madrid in 22.19 that was a new championship record, a new Spanish record and a European lead. It was a time that slashed 0.19 from Sandra Myers’ national record which had stood since 1991.
After a rare fallow period in his career, Olympic, world and European champion Miltiadis Tentoglou re-asserted his global dominance of the men’s long jump, soaring to a superb world lead of 8.46m at the 1st Division in Madrid.
Not to outdone, there was a brilliant world lead set at the 2nd Division in Maribor where European champion Victoria Hudson landed her spear at 67.76m, a new Austrian national record. Here’s a run down of every record set during the 2025 European Athletics Team Championships:
