Dutch star Femke Broeders-Bol will make her long-awaited outdoor 800m debut at the 45th edition of the FBK Games in Hengelo on Sunday 21 June, marking the latest step in her transition to the two-lap event after announcing her switch from the 400m hurdles in October 2025.
The twice world 400m hurdles champion has already offered a glimpse of her potential over the longer distance.
In February, Broeders-Bol raced her first-ever indoor 800m in Metz and immediately clocked a Dutch indoor record of 1:59.07. However, she later cut short her indoor campaign due to a tendon issue.
Now fully focused on her outdoor return, the 26-year-old crowd favourite will test herself over two laps in front of a home audience in Hengelo.
New chapter
An 11-times European gold medallist indoors and outdoors, Broeders-Bol enters this new chapter as one of the most accomplished athletes of her generation.
Across the World Athletics Championships and Olympic Games, she has collected medals of every colour, while indoors she has broken the world 400m record three times.
She also dominated the Diamond League circuit in the 400m hurdles, remaining unbeaten for five consecutive seasons.
Her appearance in Hengelo will be one of the standout moments of this year’s FBK Games as fans witness the next phase in the career of one of Europe’s biggest athletics stars.
