Final entries have been published for the ECCC Cross Country in Albufeira, Portugal on 2 February.
The ECCC Cross Country will be streamed live on the European Athletics website from 9.55am local time with English-language commentary courtesy of Eurovision Sport.
Spanish-club Playas de Castellon dominated proceedings last year by winning five titles and their team is headed by last year’s winner Thierry Ndikumwenayo and former two-time winner Rodrigue Kwizera from Burundi who had to settle for third in 2024.
The full individual podium from last year returns with Uganda’s Oscar Chelimo - the younger brother of world half marathon record-holder Jacob Kiplimo - due to represent Italian club Atletica Casone Noceto.
In the senior women’s race, Sporting Clube de Braga will be aiming for success on home soil. The standout name on their team is Mariana Machado who finished an excellent sixth at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Antalya in December.
Playas de Castellon will be aiming for their fourth successive victory in the mixed relay but the Spanish team will face strong opposition from Sport Lisboa e Benfica whose team includes Portuguese 1500m record-holder Isaac Nader and Romania’s European indoor 1500m silver medallist Claudia Bobocea.
Full event previews will be published later this week and there will be detailed coverage of the ECCC Cross Country on the European Athletics website and across European Athletics’ social media channels on Sunday.
