  • Lisek and Apostolovski among entries for live streamed Cottbus meeting

Twice world medallist and 2017 European indoor men's pole vault champion Piotr Lisek of Poland and Slovenia’s world indoor high jump bronze medallist Lia Apostolovski are on the start lists for the Springer Meeting Cottbus 2025 on Wednesday (29).

The World Athletics Tour Bronze meeting is being streamed live via the European Athletics website.

The crowd-pleasing Lisek is a three-time winner in Cottbus in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and this will be his eighth appearance at the annual jumps meeting. He faces a field deep in international class, headed by twice world champion Sam Kendricks of the USA.

Last year's joint winners Ben Broeders of Belgium and Valters Kreiss of Latvia both return. Broeders was also a creditable fourth at the Paris Olympic Games.

Also in the line-up are Germany duo Torben Blech and Bo Kanda Lita Baehre. Blech was a finalist at both the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships and Paris Olympics and Lita Baehre won silver at the Munich 2022 European Athletics Championships.

Apostolovski will be making her debut in Cottbus and will be facing a string home challenge from Christina Honsel and Imke Onnen, who were Olympic and Roma 2024 finalists last year respectively.  The big danger though is likely to be Uzbekistan’s Safina Sadullaeva, who was seventh in the Paris Olympics.
