World U20 gold medallist Andreas Fjeld Halvorsen, former European 1500 m champion Filip Ingebrigtsen, double European U20 medallist Karl Ottfalk, and European U20 steeplechase gold medallist Andrea Nygård Vie are among the entries for the Nordic Cross Country Championships in Tårnby, Denmark, on Sunday (9).
Fjeld Halvorsen, who claimed a surprise 3000 m gold at the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, is entered for the senior men’s race over 7.5 km alongside fellow Norwegian Ingebrigtsen.
The 32-year-old – the middle brother of Jakob (25) and Henrik (34) – will be seeking a return to something resembling the form that brought him gold at the Tilburg 2018 SPAR European Cross Country Championships.
In the senior women’s race, the entries include home favourite Anna Emilie Møller.
The Danish five-time European U23 gold medallist on the track (3000 m steeplechase, 2017; 3000 m steeplechase and 5000 m, 2019) and in cross country (2018, 2019) took a three-year hiatus from the sport after 2021 but made a modest return to competition last year. She was 15th at the World Cross Country Championships on home soil in Aarhus in 2019.
Tampere stars Nygård Vie and Ottfalk line up in U20 races
In the U20 races, two of the standout athletes from this summer’s Tampere 2025 European Athletics U20 Championships are also in action.
The men’s U20 4.5 km race features Sweden’s Karl Ottfalk, who won 3000 m bronze and 5000 m silver in Tampere. He also placed fifth in the U20 race at the Antalya 2024 SPAR European Cross Country Championships and fourth the previous year in Brussels 2023.
The women’s U20 race, also over 4.5 km, includes Norway’s Andrea Nygård Vie, who was an impressive winner of the 3000 m steeplechase in Tampere 2025.
