Germany will be sending a team of 100 athletes to the Tampere 2025 European Athletics U20 Championships from 7-10 August.
The European Athletics U20 Championships will be streamed live in its entirety on the European Athletics website courtesy of Eurovision Sport and will be accompanied by expert English-language commentary provided by Phil Minshull and Rob Walker.
Germany topped the medal table two years ago with eight gold medals and 23 medals in total and their team for Tampere includes reigning champion Curly Brown who led a German 1-2-3 in the discus in 2023.
Their team also includes three gold medallists from last year’s European Athletics U18 Championships in Banska Bystrica: Jakob Kemminer (100m), Nadjela Wepiwe (discus) and Clara Hegemann (hammer).
There will also be high hopes for Johanna Martin in the women’s 400m. The 19-year-old broke the European indoor U20 record with 52.22 in February and leads the European U20 outdoor list with 51.55 at the European Athletics Team Championships in Madrid where she finished sixth overall.
"Many talented athletes are well-placed on the European list and have also impressed at national level in the senior category. I’m looking forward to the competitions and I am confident that we can celebrate some success," said Björn Weisheit, head coach for the U20/U23 athletes at the German Athletics Federation since this year.
