2020 Olympic 100m champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs will make his outdoor season’s debut on home soil at the Savona International Meeting, a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meeting, on 20 May.

This will be Jacobs’ first competitive appearance since the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo where he made the semifinals at the end of another season which was interrupted by injuries.

Jacobs, who holds the meeting record in Savona at 9.95, will be targeting a third successive men's 100m title at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham from 10-16 August, a feat last achieved by Linford Christie in 1994.

Another Olympic champion who is confirmed for Savona is Thea Lafond who became Dominica’s first ever Olympic champion with gold in the triple jump in Paris.

She faces many of Europe’s leading exponents including Serbia’s two-time European long jump champion Ivana Spanovic, world finalists Caroline Joyeux from Germany and Sweden’s Maja Askag and leading Italians Dariya Derkach and Ottavia Cestonaro.

World indoor 60m champion Zaynab Dosso and double European U20 champion Kelly Doualla have previously been announced for the women’s 100m along with European champion Leonardo Fabbri and 2023 European indoor champion Zane Weir in the shot put.

Details about live streaming for the 2026 World Athletics Continental Tour at Silver, Bronze and Challenger level will be communicated very soon.
