As the Russian Championships came to a conclusion, with another fine performance from Aleksandr Menkov in the long jump; Kolodko, the silver medallist from London, won in Moscow on Tuesday with an effort of 19.24m, the second best in Europe this year behind the 19.58m of Germany's Christina Schwanitz.
And 22-year-old Kolodko will be heading to Sweden delighted with her indoor season and now determined to make the podium after an intense period of preparation.
She said: 'All my season's preparation went off without a hitch.
'I had staggering 40-days training camp in the new indoor arena in Irkutsk and the results turned out brilliant.
'I am satisfied with my performance in Moscow and I will do everything to improve my result at European Athletics Indoor Championships.'
It looked as though she would be out of the medal places at the Olympics before a dramatic, final round personal best of 20.48m brought silver as New Zealand's Valerie Adams won with 20.70m.
Russia have named a strong squad for Göteborg where the third female pole vaulter will be decided between Anzhelika Sidorova and Lyudmila Yeryomina at the Russian U23 Championships in Volgograd next week.
Even though they have not selected any women high jumpers - they do not have any athletes in the top 12 in the European rankings - they will be particularly strong in the men's event, led by the best two in Europe this year: Aleksey Dmitrik with 2.36m and Sergey Mudrov with 2.34m.
Darya Klishina, Russia's reigning European Athletics indoor long jump champion, will begin her countdown to defending her title after a longer winter of events than normal.
She won the championships with 6.80m, the third best in Europe this year, and told rusathletics.com: 'I competed this indoor season more than usually, starting from the middle of January. It was my own decision as I have huge desire to jump and to compete.
(Now) I'll take a break for deep preparation for Goteborg.'
But it was men's long jumper Menkov who produced the best performance at the final day of their National Indoor Championships as he took the title with 8.18m.
It is the second best jump in Europe this year, seven centimetres behind the leading mark he set in Irkutsk in January.
He was a long way ahead, beating Pavel Karavayev, who was second with 7.90m, and third Pawel Shalin with 7.88m.
Yegor Nikolayev won the men's 1500m in 3:39.54 and in the women's event, Yelena Korobkina triumphed in 4:10.28.
There was a fine run from Olga Golovkina who moved to the top of the European 5000m rankings with victory in 15:36.08, ahead of Yelena Nagovitsyna in 15:36.65 and Natalya Gorchakova, third in 15:38.98 and the 2010 pole vault World junior champion Anton Ivakin won the senior title with a personal best - indoors or out - of 5.65m with the award being presented to him by Yelena Isinbaeva.
Russia remain strong in the women's triple jump and the event here was superb and full of twists, with Irina Gumenyuk and Viktoriya Dolgacheva both clearing a best of 14.41m.
It meant the result was decided on countback, with Gumenyuk taking the title on the basis of her 14.33m compared to 14.07m.
Third was Veronika Mosina with 14.30m but Natalya Kutyakova, who had moved to second in the European rankings in qualifying with 14.50m, was only ninth with 13.62m and missed out on a place in the squad.
