Poland’s Mateusz Kołodziejski maintained his excellent start to the season by winning the men’s competition at the High Jump Meeting Beskyd Bar meeting in Třinec on Tuesday (10).

The 23-year-old who also won in Hustopeče on Saturday (7) made it a second successive victory on Czech soil at a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting with a best clearance of 2.28m.

It gave him victory over home favourite and last year’s world bronze medallist Jan Stefela who finished second with a best clearance of 2.25m in his season opener.

Kołodziejski, a former world U20 bronze and European U20 silver medallist, also attempted a new personal best of 2.31m, but had some close failures.

Mexico’s Erick Portillo was third on countback, having also cleared 2.25m.

In the women’s competition, Poland’s world silver medallist Maria Zodzik settled for third with a best of 1.91m behind winner Eleanor Patterson. The Australian former world champion won with a best of 1.97m.
