Switzerland has named a 22-strong team for the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa on 14 December.
The standout name on Switzerland’s team is reigning European 10,000m champion Dominic Lobalu who is due to make his debut at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships.
Not since 2019 when Julien Wanders won bronze in the senior men’s race has Switzerland won a medal in any event at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships but Lobalu could follow in his footsteps if he can translate his excellent track and road form to the cross country.
Lobalu is joined on the senior men’s team by the experienced pair of Jonas Raess and Morgan Le Guen. The latter finished eighth in the 5000m at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome.
Switzerland will also be sending teams for the mixed relay as well as both U20 races. Their women’s U20 team includes Shirin Kerber who finished eighth in the U20 race in Antalya last year.
