Olympic and European long jump champion Miltiadis Tentoglou has mapped out his plans for the 2026 indoor season.

The Greek athlete endured a frustrating 2025, losing his grip on the world, world indoor and European indoor titles through illness and then injury.

Yet, he still gave a glimpse into his rare talent during the summer, with a superb world lead of 8.46m to win at the Madrid 2025 European Athletics Team Championships 1st Division.

Ostrava opener

As he looks to re-assert his authority on the international long jump scene in the lead up to the World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland on 20-22 March, he will go up against the man who took over as world outdoor and indoor champion Mattia Furlani at the Czech Indoor Gala in Ostrava on 3 February.

"This will be my fifth participation in the Czech Indoor Gala,” said Tentoglou. “Since the 2018 season, I have been coming here every other year. I believe in a good start to the season.

"Training is going well. So I want to try for my fourth victory at this meeting. The main goal will then be to perform a perfect jump at the World Indoors in Toruń.”

The brilliant Italian Furlani won at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting earlier this year with 8.23m.

Torun in sights

Tentoglou is then scheduled to compete at the Belgrade Indoor Meeting, another World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting on 11 February.

He will then compete at the Greek Indoor Championships (28 February - 1 March) and the World Indoor Championships (20-22 March). There also a possibility Tentoglou may also participate at the Balkan Indoor Championships on 21 February, one of the few titles the Greek athlete has yet to win.
