The German Sport University in Cologne will stage the 2nd European Pole Vault Conference, entitled “Peaking Performance”, at its campus from 17 to 19 March.
Among the well-known coaches and top jumpers from Germany and abroad scheduled to make presentations during the conference’s lectures, workshops and practical demonstrations are Vitaly Petrov, the former coach of world record holder Sergey Bubka, and Tim Lobinger, the 2003 World Indoor Champion.
The presentations will include findings from the IAAF biomechanical research project conducted during the 2005 World Championships in Athletics in Helsinki.
The conference, which is supported by the German Athletics Federation (DLV), will be jointly organised by the university’s Institute for Motor Control and Movement Technique and Institute for Biomechanics.
In 2004 more than 200 coaches from 18 countries participated in the first edition of the conference.
Registration fees for this year’s conference will be € 160 for coaches and € 100 for athletes. Coaches who are members of the European Athletics Coaches Association will receive a € 30 discount).
