World and European Indoor heptathlon champion Sander Skotheim is set to compete in his first decathlon of the year at the 50th anniversary edition of the Hypo-Meeting in Götzis, Austria this weekend (30 May-1 June).

The Norwegian, who set a new European record winning gold at the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in March, will be seeking to take his winter form outdoors. But faces a stellar field for the jubilee edition of the World Athletics Continental Tour gold meeting. 

It includes Tokyo Olympic champion and eight-time winner in Götzis, Damien Warner of Canada, Switzerland’s Simon Ehammer who won silver behind Skotheim at Apeldoorn 2025 and Germany’s Leo Neugebauer, silver medallist at last year’s Paris Olympic Games.

Dokter, Vicente, Kalin line up in heptathlon

The heptathlon features the Netherland’s Sofie Dokter, silver medallist at the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships and at the Espoo 2023 European Athletics U23 Championships.

Also entered are Poland’s 2022 European silver medallist Adrianna Sulek-Schubert, Switzerland’s Annik Kalin, who was fourth in the Paris Olympics and Spain’s highly promising Maria Vicente, a European U20, European U18 and World U18 gold medallist who will trying to complete her first heptathlon since the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Olympic silver medallist Katarina Johnson-Thompson is a late withdrawal.
