Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska is aiming to upgrade her 60m hurdles bronze from the Glasgow 2024 World Indoor Championships when the event comes to her home country in Torun on 20–22 March 2026.
The 24-year-old, who won 100m hurdles gold at the Munich 2022 European Championships, is a prolific international medallist and will be one of Poland’s leading hopes in Torun.
Records and medals
She told pzla.pl: “I won’t hide the fact that I’d like to perform my best in Poland, in front of my home fans. I won bronze in Glasgow in 2024, so maybe I can achieve something more here? Especially since my family will be cheering me on in the stands, and at the European Indoor Championships in 2021 there were no fans because of the pandemic.”
Looking ahead to the summer and the Birmingham 2026 European Championships, she added: “I’m aiming for another medal. It would also be great to set a personal best — that Polish record… but those are longer-term plans. For now, I’m focused on training to start the 2026 season well.”
The Polish 100m hurdles record stands at 12.36, set by Grażyna Rabsztyn. Skrzyszowska said: “I’ve already broken the indoor record, so of course I’m hungry for another one. Running a time that ranks among the world’s best would be a huge motivation. But I still have enormous respect and admiration for Mrs Grażyna, who remains the record holder.”
