Former European indoor long jump champion Jazmin Sawyers is returning to her roots by focusing on the pentathlon for the 2026 indoor season.
The British athlete, who won gold at the 2023 European Indoor Championships in Istanbul, is a renowned multi-tasker, having previously competed in combined events, bobsleigh and even working as a commentator and professional singer.
"I'm not crazy"
She told followers on Instagram: “Combined events are what made me fall in love with athletics in the first place, and it’s how I got started in the sport. I’m not crazy, I’m not stopping individual long jump, and I won’t be doing heptathlon outdoors, but I’m committing to at least one pentathlon this indoor season.”
Sawyers made her return to the international arena last year after a ruptured Achilles tendon ruled her out of the Paris Olympics. She regained her UK Championships title but failed to reach the final at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships.
