Classic Meeting in Huelva on Thursday.
Spain's 2009 World Championships 3000m steeplechase gold medallist Marta Domínguez made an impressive return in her first race on the track since taking the silver medal over the barriers at the 2010 European Athletics Championships when she clocked 9:24.36 at European Athletics Classic Meeting in Huelva on Thursday.

The Spanish record holder for the event at 9:07.32 produced the second fastest time by a European this year when finishing behind the Ethiopian winner Etenesh Diro Neda, who won in 9:21.54.

It was a good evening for Spanish steeplechasers at the VIII Meeting Iberoamericano.

Victor Garcia won the men's race a personal best of 8:15.20, taking more than seven seconds off his previous best set at the same meeting last year, which was also the second best time by a European runner this year.

The 2011 European Athletics U23 Championships silver medallist Abdelaziz Merzoughi also went into new territory when finishing third in 8:18.03.

Over 800m, the resurgent Spanish record holder Antonio Reina, who is having his best season since 2005, won in 1:45.58 after a tough battle with former European junior champion Kevin López.

The latter was given the same time but Reina got the verdict by the thickness of a vest, with Luis Alberto Marco third in 1:46.13.

Alvaro Rodríguez impressed when winning the 1500m in 3:34.37, coming home ahead of former European junior champion David Bustos, who was second in a personal best of 3:34.77.

Vincent Docavo won the triple jump with his third round effort of 16.72m, the best distance by a Spaniard in the discipline for 14 years. Poland's Damien Kusiak took the honours in the men's shot put with 19.63m.

Czech Republic's Lenka Masna set a women's 800m meeting record of 2:01.38.

Great Britain's Nick McCormick, better known as a 1500m runner, set a 5000m personal best of 13:18.81 when finishing third behind the Kenyan winner Alex Korir.

Germany's Diana Sujew continued her series of good runs when she finished second in 4:07.35 behind another Kenyan winner Mary Kuria, who set a meeting record of 4:03.87, while Sujew's compatriot Denise Krebs finished third in 4:07.73.
