| Javelin world record holder Barbora Å potáková of the Czech Republic. |
She took the silver medal six years ago in Göteborg behind Germany's Steffi Nerius – when her then national record of 66.12m in the qualifying round would have won if she had been able to repeat it in the final – and then had to settle for third place in Barcelona in 2010.
In an exclusive interview with European Athletics, which can be seen here, Å potáková talks about her motivation to finally stand on top of the continental stage in Helsinki, as well her reflections on both of her previous appearances at the European Athletics Championships.
She was also among the Prague delegation which successfully convinced the European Athletics Council that the 2015 European Athletics Indoor Championships should be held in the city and she looks ahead to that event.
Keep on watching to the end of the interview as well as she reveals that she may one day contest another heptathlon, having been fourth at the 2000 World Junior Championships before concentrating on the javelin.
The 2012 European Athletics Championships will be staged in the Finnish capital from 27 June to 1 July.
