Alessia Succo matched the European U18 best in the 100m hurdles (76.0cm) in Bressanone, Italy on Sunday (31) morning.
The 17-year-old stopped the clock at 12.86 (+0.5) to equal the mark set by Slovakia’s Laura Frlickova on home soil at the 2024 European Athletics U18 Championships in Banska Bystrica and move to joint second on the world all-time U18 list behind Jamaica's Kerrica Hill with 12.71.
Succo is eligible for this year’s European Athletics U18 Championships from 16-19 July and she will be aiming to emulate Frlickova by winning a gold medal on home soil in the 100m hurdles in Rieti.
At the age of just 16, Succo won a breakthrough bronze in the 100m hurdles at the European Athletics U20 Championships in Tampere last August as the youngest athlete in the final.
Succo already holds the Italian U20 records in both the 60m hurdles (8.08) and 100m hurdles (13.14) over 84.0cm barriers and she remains eligible for this age-group category through until the end of the 2028 season.
