Alessia Succo improved her world U18 best in the 60m hurdles (76.2cm) at the Italian Indoor U18 Championships in Ancona on Sunday (15) afternoon.
Succo already held the world U18 best with 8.07 which she set last year but the Italian shaved 0.02 from that mark on the same track with a 8.05 clocking.
At 16, Succo won a bronze medal over the senior height barrier in the 100m hurdles at the European Athletics U20 Championships in Tampere last August and she will be one of Italy’s brightest prospects at the European Athletics U18 Championships on home soil in Rieti this July.
Double European U20 champion Kelly Doualla, who blazed to 100m and 4x100m titles at the age of 15 last summer, is also still eligible for the European Athletics U18 Championships.
Now 16, Doualla won the 60m title on Saturday (14) in a season's best of 7.27.
