Sweden have announced a solid-looking team for the Lago 2025 SPAR European Cross Country Championships on 14 December, including Sarah Lahti, who finished sixth in the senior women’s race in Antalya.

It will be the sixth appearance at the championships for the twice Olympian, who was also sixth in the women’s U23 race in Hyères in 2015. She will be joined in the senior women’s team by recently crowned Nordic champion Evelina Henriksson.

European medallists set for age group challenge

Jonathan Grahn, who won men's 10,000m silver after a thrilling finish with Denmark's Joel Ibler Lillesø at the Bergen 2025 European Athletics U23 Championships will lead the Swedish challenge in the U23 class.

In the U20 ranks, the Swedes have several medal contenders. Karl Ottfalk, who won 5000m silver and 3000m bronze at the Tampere 2025 European Athletics U20 Championships, and Carmen Cernjul, who took silver in both the women’s 1500m and 3000m, will lead the challenge in the men’s and women’s races respectively.

Also included in the men’s U20 team is Sebastian Lörstad, who won 3000m bronze at the 2024 Banska Bystrica European Athletics U18 Championships.
