Sweden’s Louise Ekman took one of the biggest wins of her career at the Brněnská Laťka Olympia in Brno, Czechia on Thursday (26).
The 29-year-old cleared 1.94m to win the women’s high jump-only event ahead of world silver medallist Maria Zodzik of Poland.
Ekman, who finished 6th at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Kujawy-Pomorze in March, has extended her fine form through the summer season.
This result was only 2cm down on her lifetime best achieved in Banska Bystrica in February and gave her a significant victory over a quality international field at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting.
A disappointed Zodzik had to settle for second on countback with 1.90m ahead of USA athletes Charity Hufnagel and Sanaa Barnes who shared third place.
