Hungary's Bence Halasz posted his third competition over 80m this year with a throw of 80.54m at the Dobo SE Throwing Series in Szombathely on Saturday (11).
That adds to his season’s best of 80.66m from the Hungarian Winter Throwing Championships and 80.31m from the Nicosia 2026 European Throwing Cup.
Last year his first three competitions of the year were 77.97m, 78.75m and 79.45m before going on to throw a PB of 83.18m in August.
With such success so early in the season, it hints that we could see some even bigger throws from the Hungarian later this year.
But he will likely be aiming to peak at the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships, were he will be hoping to convert his two silvers and one bronze into a gold.
Currently his season opener ranks him second in the world, with only Czechia’s Volodymyr Myslyvcuk ahead of him with a throw of 80.69m from the European Throwing Cup.
