European Athletics has formally ratified two European records in June 2026.
Men’s 400m short track record
45.01 - Attila Molnar (HUN)
European indoor champion Attila Molnar clocked 45.01 at the Czech Indoor Gala on 3 February, shaving 0.04 off the long-standing record set by East Germany’s Thomas Schonlebe in 1988 and equalled by Karsten Warholm at the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships.

Women’s 5km road record (mixed)
14:33 - Diane Van Es (NED)
European 10,000m silver medallist Diane Van Es clocked 14:33 for victory in the Monaco Run on 15 February, defeating a strong European field including Belgium’s Jana Van Lent (14:48) and Slovenia’s European 10km record-holder Klara Lukan (15:04).
Note: Nadia Battocletti’s 14:32 clocking from the 2025 Tokyo Speed Race was not ratified as a European record although it does remain the fastest time on the European all-time 5km list
