World indoor gold medallist Marie-Julie Bonnin and European gold medallists Lorenzo Simonelli, Agathe Guillemot, Samuel Chapple are among the stars set to compete across two meetings in France on Friday (30), which are both being live streamed by European Athletics.
European champion and Italian record-holder Simonelli will race over the 60m hurdles at the Elite Indoor Track Miramas, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting, on Friday (30).
The live stream begins at 19:00 CET on the European Athletics YouTube channel and live results can be found here.
France’s former European U23 bronze medallist Erwann Cinna is among Simonelli’s opposition.
Current European leader, Romell Glave of Great Britain will continue his incredible indoor campaign and show he is not to be underestimated against the best in the world.
But he will come up against tough competition once more, with Kenya’s two-time African champion Ferdinand Omanyala, Ivory Coast’s world finalist Arthur Cisse, and Japan’s two-time world 4x100m medallist Shuhei Tada also taking to the line.
European champions head middle distance entries
Dutch athlete Samuel Chapple, the reigning 800m European indoor champion, will also be opening his 2026 season in the men’s 1500m.
There also promises to be an intriguing race in the women’s 800m featuring French duo Agathe Guillemot and Clara Liberman.
Guillemot won 1500m gold at the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships, while Liberman took 800m silver at the same championships. Spain’s rising prospect Marta Mitjans should also figure.
Hometown star, Meziane Benhammou, will also be at the meet, competing in the men’s 3000m, after clocking 29:18 at the Valencia 10K Ibercaja at just 16-years-old earlier this month.
Bonnin building towards title defence
World indoor champion Bonnin continues the build up to the defence of her title in Kujawy-Pomorze 2025 on March 20-22, when she competes at the Perch'Xtrem in Caen on Friday (30).
The World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting is one of the most prestigious pole vault events of the indoor season and will give every athlete the environment in which to lay down a marker for the year ahead.
The live stream begins at 21:00 CET on European Athletics YouTube channel and live results can be found here.
Bonnin will face Brazil’s South American champion Juliana de Menis Campos, London Diamond League winner Olivia McTaggart of New Zealand and Italian record holder Roberta Bruni.
French looking for home victory against tough field
The men’s competition has been depleted by the withdrawal of world silver medallist Emmanouil Karalis of Greece, but it still boasts a high-quality line-up.
French athletes Thibaut Collet, former European U18 silver medallist Baptiste Thiery, and 2021 European U23 champion Ethan Cormant lead the home charge while the US trio of Sam Kendricks (2017 and 2019 world champion), national record-holder at 6.07m KC Lightfoot and Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist Chris Nilsen bring a strong transatlantic challenge.
The field also includes Ernest John Obiena from the Philippines, Asian record-holder and 2023 world silver medallist.
