Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson will race for the first time since shattering the world indoor 800m record in Lievin at the Scottish Athletics Indoor Invitational in Glasgow on Sunday 1 March.
The Scottish Athletics Indoor Invitational will be streamed live on the European Athletics website from 3.00pm local time (4.00pm CET) but with geoblocking in Great Britain, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
Hodgkinson will step down in distance to contest the 400m in what is likely to be her last race before the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Kujawy Pomorze from 20-22 March when she will aim for her first global indoor title.
Hodgkinson has a respectable indoor PB of 52.42 which dates back to 2022, the last time she has contested the event indoors. The 23-year-old has clocked 51.61 outdoors and won bronze at the distance at the 2023 European Athletics U23 Championships.
Hodgkinson is due to face fellow 800m specialist Isabelle Boffey in the 400m.
With Hodgkinson dropping down to the 400m, world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell will take centre stage in the 800m. This will be her first 800m of the year having won over 1500m earlier this month in Karlsruhe (4:00.04) and Lievin (4:00.21).
In fact, this will be Hunter Bell’s first meaningful indoor 800m since 2015 when she clocked her indoor PB of 2:07.12 in the 800m heats at the British Indoor Championships, a time which is due to be revised significantly this weekend.
The men’s 800m includes a strong domestic cast including Ethan Hussey, Alex Botterill and European U18 champion Matthew McKenna while world and European 1500m finalist Katie Snowden faces Erin Wallace and Ava Lloyd in the women’s 1500m
