World and European medallist Patrizia Van der Weken is the great home hope at the CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting on Sunday (17), which launches European Athletics’ packed programme of live-streamed athletics this winter.
Van der Weken won bronze over 60m at both the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships and the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing. She will return to her favoured distance on Sunday but will also double up in the non-championship 200m indoors.
In both sprints, she faces high-class fields that are sure to produce some thrilling racing at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting.
In the short sprint, she will be up against Spain’s Jaël Bestué, the 200m winner at last year’s European Athletics Team Championships First Division in Madrid; evergreen Portuguese record holder Lorène Bazolo; and 2023 European U20 100m champion Joy Eze of Great Britain.
Over one lap, she will take on European indoor 400m bronze medallist Paula Sevilla and Germany’s meeting record holder Jessica-Bianca Wessolly (22.84).
European medallists collide in men's hurdles
In the men’s 60m hurdles, reigning European indoor champion and meeting record holder (7.39) Jakub Szymański of Poland will face the Spanish duo of 2024 European 110m hurdles silver medallist Enrique Llopis and 2022 European 110m hurdles gold medallist Asier Martínez.
In the distance races, plenty of interest will surround Luxembourg’s World University Games 3000m steeplechase gold medallist Ruben Querinjean, who will compete in the men’s 3000m. The opposition includes Belgium’s Ruben Verheyden, who finished fourth in the 1500m at the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships.
Fresh from setting a new Irish indoor 600m best, three-time European indoor medallist Mark English heads the entries for the men’s 800m.
European U23 champion Konaté set for long jump battle
There will also be plenty of exciting contests in the field events.
France’s European U23 champion Erwan Konaté is entered for the men’s long jump in a field that also includes USA’s Cameron Crump, who has a personal best of 8.39m.

In the women’s pole vault, Estonia’s precocious world U18 best-record holder Allika Inker Moser will take on New Zealand’s Olivia McTaggart, who triumphed over a strong field at last year’s London Diamond League.
The live stream begins at 16:00 CET on Sunday (18).
