Stars are set to descend on Italy for Meeting Lignano, a World Athletics Continental Bronze meet, on 8 July live on European Athletics’ website* from 6pm CEST.
In the men’s 100m, South African 400m world record holder Wayde van Niekerk will take to the start line for his sixth race of the year.
He has clocked two sub-10 runs this year, however both have been with illegal winds so he will be looking to dip under 10 once more, but hopefully with a legal wind speed.
He’ll come up against Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme, Italy’s former European indoor champion Samuele Ceccarelli, and Jamaican 24-year-old Rohan Watson.
America’s Maia McCoy will compete in the women’s 100m as she looks to go sub-11 for the first time this year.
While home star, Giada Carmassi, will compete in the women’s 100m hurdles after running a season’s best of 12.90 in June.
Then the men’s shot put will see Italy’s Zane Weir look to improve on his second-place finish from last year, and soar back over the 21m mark for the third time this season.
Former Paralympic champion and two-time world champion, Ambra Sabatini, will also race in the ambulant 100m.
