World 10,000m champion Jimmy Gressier has confirmed he will compete over 5000m at the Monaco Diamond League on 10 July.

The French athlete recently set a new a new European 5km road record of 12:51 in Lille, just two second shy of the world record. But this is his first confirmed appearance on the track this summer.

Last year, Gressier set a French record of 12:51.59 at the Paris Diamond League before going on to win 10,000m gold and 5000m bronze at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

The Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships on 10-16 August are also in Gressier's sights, where he will be seeking his first European medal on the track. He was fourth in the men's 10,000m final in Munich 2022 and fifth over the same distance at Roma 2024.
