Swedish track prospects Carmen Cernjul and Sebastian Lörstad proved their proficiency on the roads with record-breaking performances at the Hässelbyloppet 10km races in Sweden on Sunday (5).
18-year-old Cernjul, who won silver in both the 1500m and 3000m at the Tampere 2025 European Athletics U20 Championships this summer, claimed victory in the women’s race in 33:53, setting a new Swedish U20 record.
The men’s race was won by 17-year-old Lörstad, the 3000m bronze medallist at the Banská Bystrica 2024 European Athletics U18 Championships, who ran a superb course record, national U20 record and European U18 best of 28:53, improving by 17 seconds on the record he set in April in Drammen, Norway.
The Hässelbyloppet also served as the Swedish National 10km Championships.
