Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis cleared 6.00m for the 10th time in 2025 for victory in the pole vault in the Lausanne Diamond League on Tuesday (19) evening.

In drizzly conditions, Karalis cleared 5.92m on his first attempt to secure the victory before navigating over 6.02m on his third attempt to add further lustre to his first ever Diamond League victory.

This was the fourth competition in a row that Karalis has cleared 6.00m or higher and the 10th time he has surpassed this landmark height in 2025.

His recent form augurs well for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo where Karalis is aiming to land his sixth successive medal in a major championships, a sequence of competitions which has included a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games and gold at the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships.

Karalis led a European 1-2-3 in the lakeside city pole vault event with Frenchman Thibaut Collet and former world record-holder Renaud Lavillenie finishing second and third on countback at 5.82m.

Armand Duplantis was absent from this meeting. His next competition will be the Finnkampen - the annual Sweden v Finland match - in Stockholm on Sunday.
