After winning two medals at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Nadia Battocletti will switch the track spikes for the racing flats later this month when she lines up in the Corsa dei Castelli in Trieste on 19 October.
Battocletti will contest the 10km in Trieste, the event in which she was crowned European champion at the inaugural European Running Championships in Brussels-Leuven this April to complete the full set of European titles.
After winning double gold at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome, Battocletti became the first woman to win individual titles across all age-groups at the 2024 SPAR European Cross Country Championships before creating further history by completing the set of European titles across all surfaces - track, cross country and road - in Brussels-Leuven.

Battocletti, who won 10,000m silver and 5000m bronze in Tokyo to become the first Italian woman to win two medals at the same World Athletics Championships, holds the Italian 10km record at 31:10 as well as the European record over 5km with 14:32.
Recent winners of the Corsa dei Castelli - which also incorporates a European U23 match which will feature athletes from at least 12 countries - have included the Ethiopian stars Muktar Edris and Hagos Gebrhiwet and European U23 10,000m champion Joel Ibler Lillesø from Denmark.
