Reigning European champion, Sara Fantini, has joined a blue-star-studded line up set to compete at the Pegaso Meeting, a World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger meet, on 9 May.
The Italian improved her seasons best to 73.40m on 3 May as she looks to build towards retaining her title at the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships.
As Italian record holder, Fantini will be looking to impress in front of a home crowd against her competitors Aleksandra Smiech of Poland, and Algerian national record-holder Zahra Tatar.
This season she will also be keen to finally break her personal best of 75.77m, which she set in 2022, and is on track to challenge that with her recent throw being her fourth best distance since setting her PB.
Also competing at the Pegaso Meeting is world indoor 3000m champion Nadia Battocletti in the 1500m as well as European shot put champion Leonardo Fabbri.
