Italy’s Larissa Iapichino will kick off her Diamond League title defence in Shanghai on 16 May after winning silver in March at the World Indoor Championships.

Last year the European indoor champion went on to take gold at the Diamond League final in Zurich with 6.93m before opening her 2026 season with the same distance in January.

Her European competition includes the Netherlands’ world finalist, Pauline Hondema, and Sweden’s multiple-time world and European finalist Khaddia Sagnia.

However, she’ll also face tough global competition including from world bronze medallist, Natalia Linares of Colombia, and America’s 2025 world indoor champion, Claire Bryant.

During the indoor season she cleared 6.70m in all five of her competitions, hinting for a promising outdoor season where she will also look to take her first major outdoor title.

Having won gold at the European U20 and U23 championships, all Iapichino needs to complete that collection is a senior gold medal at the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships.
