Reigning world discus champion Daniel Ståhl from Sweden has been announced for the Internationales Pfingstsportfest Rehlingen, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting, on 24 May.
Ståhl, who won his third world discus title in Tokyo last September, will face a strong field which includes Germany’s Steven Richter who recently smashed his lifetime best with a throw of 74.00m in Ramona to come within eight centimetres of Jürgen Schult’s national record which was set in 1986.
Richter will also renew his domestic rivalry in Rehlingen with Mika Sosna. The pair won gold and silver respectively at the European Athletics U23 Championships in Bergen last July although the order was reversed the following week at the World University Games in Bochum.
And with world record-holder Mykolas Alekna currently rehabbing a torn pectoral muscle, the Alekna family will be represented by his older brother Martynas who finished seventh at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
Reigning Olympic shot put champion Yemisi Ogunleye has also been confirmed for Rehlingen. The 27-year-old will be aiming for back-to-back victories in the Bungert-Stadium after winning twelve months ago with 19.06m.
Similarly, European champion Malaika Mihambo will be targeting her second victory in a row in the long jump. Mihambo won at this meeting last year with 6.71m.
Details about streaming for the 2026 World Athletics Continental Tour Silver, Bronze and Challenger events will be communicated very soon.
