Young Dutch sensation Niels Laros, will make his return at the Stockholm Diamond League on 7 June following a calf injury in September.
The now 21-year-old had been dubbed one of the most exciting young athletes heading into the World Athletics Championships last year and was able to go on to place fifth in the 1500m.
But just two days later in the 5000m heats, the end of his dream season was shattered when was unable to finish the race due to a calf injury.
But 262 days later, he will return to the track in a star studded line up as he builds towards aiming for his first senior European title later this summer.
At the junior levels Laros swept podiums, taking double golds at each of the European U18, U20 and U23 championships.
However, last year he truly broke through onto the senior stage when he won his first Diamond League Final, cementing himself as a serious medal contender.
On his return to the track, Laros will be taking on 10,000m world champion Jimmy Gressier, the Frenchman’s first 1500m at a Diamond League since 2022.

Joining them on the start-line will also be world 10,000m bronze medallist Andreas Almgren of Sweden, who set a European 5000m record of 12:44:27 at this same meeting last year. His international team mate former European U23 bronze medallist Samuel Pihlström and European indoor multi-medallist Azeddine Habz of France also also set to compete.
Olympic bronze medallist Yared Nuguse of USA and Kenya’s world U20 record holder Phanuel Koech will also be contesting a stacked 1500m in Stockholm.
