Bulgarian triple jump champion Gabriela Petrova delivered a solid victory at the Serbia Athletics Meeting in Smederevo, on Wednesday (2), with a best leap of 14.10m (0.7m/s).
It was enough to take victory ahead of Germany’s Ruth Hildebrand, who set a personal best of 14.00m in second.
The World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meeting was streamed on the European Athletics website, and highlights are available on the European Athletics YouTube channel.
European shot put silver medallist Zane Weir had to settle for second place again behind USA’s Payton Otterdahl. Weir’s best was 20.57m, 53cm behind Otterdahl. Weir’s Italian teammate Nick Ponzio was third with 20.30m.
The outstanding performance of the meeting came from South Africa’s Bayanda Walaza, who stormed to 9.89 (0.6m/s) to win the men’s 100m.
