With the countdown to the 2025 Tampere European Athletics U20 Championships well underway, Czechia athletes Michal Rada and Filip Toul delivered record-breaking performances at the Josef Odložil Memorial in Prague on Tuesday (20) —providing an exciting glimpse into what fans can expect in Finland on 7-10 August.

Michal Rada, gold medallist at the Banska Bystrica 2024 European Athletics U18 Championships equalled his national U20 record of 49.30, placing third in the 400m hurdles, where he chased home British athletes Seamus Derbyshire (48.47) and Joshua Faulds (49.13). 

For Derbyshire, European U20 silver medallist in Boras 2019, it was 0.82 improvement on his personal best.
In the men’s 1500m, Moroccan Elhassane Moujahid took victory in 3:36.02, but it was European U18 champion. Filip Toul who also caught the eye, finishing tenth in 3:39.14—a new Czech U20 record.
