European indoor 400m silver medallist Henriette Jaeger just missed the European best in the 300m for the second year in succession at the Trond Mohn Games in Bergen, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting, on Tuesday (3) evening.

One year after winning on this track in 35.46 to come within 0.01 of Irina Privalova’s long-standing mark, Jaeger stopped the clock at the rarely-run distance in 35.55 in very cold conditions - around 10C - in the Fana Stadium for a clear victory over Finland’s Mette Baas in 36.71.

Jaeger, 21, is expected to return to action on the same track next month when Bergen hosts the European Athletics U23 Championships from 17-20 July.

Dutchman Jonas Phijffers, who is also eligible for the European Athletics U23 Championships this year, won the men's 300m in 32.52
