Miltiadis Tentoglou produced his best ever series at the Greek Championships in Volos on Sunday (26) evening, recording three jumps in excess of 8.60m.
Tentoglou was in auspicious form right from his first jump which was measured at 8.52m.
In the second round, Tentoglou jumped 8.66m with an illegal tailwind of 2.7 m/s before emulating that mark, a mythic distance in Greek athletics, with wind legal conditions on his third jump.
As well as being a world lead, Tentoglou added one centimetre to his lifetime best from the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome and significantly, the 28-year-old ties Louis Tsatoumas’ legendary national record which dates back to 2007.
Tentoglou approached that much sought-after national record in the sixth round with 8.64m to cap one of the greatest long jump series ever recorded.
