European 10,000m silver medallist Diane van Es and twice European U23 1500m champion Stefan Nillessen will lead an 18-strong Dutch team at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa, Portugal on 14 December.
Van Es will line up in the senior women’s team. The 26-year-old has not competed at the event since Dublin 2021 where she was 43rd in the women’s U23 race, she was 11th in the same category at Lisbon 2019.
Olympic 1500m finalist Nillessen who defended his European U23 1500m title won in Espoo 2023 in Bergen this year, returns for his last competition in as an U23 athlete.
Last year in Antalya 2024, he helped the Netherlands placed fourth in the mixed relay before racing to 12th place in the men’s U23 race.
