European Athletics has formally ratified five European records in July 2026.
Men’s European heptathlon short track record
6670 points - Simon Ehammer (SUI)
Simon Ehammer improved Ashton Eaton’s long-standing world heptathlon record with 6670 points to win gold at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun.
Ehammer was on course to challenge the European record after tallying 3698 points on the first day but the Swiss put together a faultless second day, including a world heptathlon best of 7.52 in the 60m hurdles, to improve Eaton’s world record of 6645 points.
Men’s European pole vault record
6.31m - Armand Duplantis (SWE)
Armand Duplantis broke the world pole vault record for the 15th time in his career at his home meeting in Uppsala, the Mondo Classic, in March.
Duplantis soared over 6.31m on his first attempt in just his second competition of 2026.
Men’s European half marathon race walk record
1:23:00 - Francesco Fortunato (ITA)
Francesco Fortunato set the first ever European record in the half marathon race walk with a 1:23:00 clocking in Podebrady, comfortably inside the record target time of 1:23:30.
Mixed European 4x100m relay record
40.15 - Germany (GER)
Germany established the inaugural European record in the mixed 4x100m with a 40.15 clocking in the heats of the 4x100m at the 2026 World Relays in Gaborone.
Their time surpassed the European record target mark of 40.20.
Women’s European U23 800m record
1:53.98 - Audrey Werro (SUI)
Audrey Werro shattered her European U23 800m record with a 1:53.98 clocking to move to third on the world all-time in the Stockholm Diamond League.
Werro improved just weeks later to 1:53.80 in Paris, a mark which is still pending ratification.
