European high jump bronze medallist Oleh Doroshchuk cleared a world lead and lifetime best at the Ukrainian Indoor Championships in Kyiv on Saturday (22).

The 23-year-old needed all three attempts at 2.30m before sailing clear at a lifetime best of 2.32m on his first time of asking. 

"This result was my goal. I’m glad that I managed to show it at home. There’s a magical atmosphere here, the competitions are very well organised, the support is inspiring. 

"The European Indoor Championships lie ahead but I don’t like to think about places or results. As always, I will try to show the best result. And then we’ll see how everything turns out," said Doroshchuk.

 

In the women’s high jump which was held concurrently with the men’s competition, Kateryna Tabashnyk cleared 1.90m to defeat 2017 world silver medallist Yulia Levchenko on countback.

Jordan equals European 60m lead with 6.54 in Madrid

Only 21, Abel Jordan enjoyed a big breakthrough at the Spanish Indoor Championships in Madrid this weekend.

Jordan won the 60m title on Saturday evening in a lifetime best and equal European lead of 6.54 before finishing second in the 60m hurdles final the following day behind Olympic fourth-placer Enrique Llopis - 7.50 to 7.53. 

 

Maria Isabel Perez won the women’s 60m title in 7.18 ahead of Jael Bestue who was credited with the same time. Earlier in the day, Perez set a Spanish record of 7.15 in the semifinals.

The final day was also highlighted by a fast women’s 400m which was won by Paula Sevilla in 51.20 - to move to second on the Spanish indoor all-time list behind Sandra Myers’ enduring national record of 50.99 from 1991 - ahead of Blanca Hervas (51.44), Eva Santandrian (51.46) and Daniela Fra (51.64).

Former world indoor champion Mariano Garcia won a competitive 800m final in 1:46.05 ahead of 2019 European indoor champion Alvaro de Arriba (1:46.13) and Elvie Josue Canales (1:346.31) and reigning European triple jump champion Ana Peleteiro-Compaore won her event with a 14.33m season’s best. 

7.43 for Szymanski in the 60m hurdles in Torun

European leader Jakub Szymanski was back at his best after a minor injury, winning the 60m hurdles title at the Polish Indoor Championships in Torun on Sunday (23) evening in 7.43.

However, there was an upset in the women’s 400m final with 2018 European champion Justyna Swiety-Ersetic rolling back the years to defeat reigning European champion and Olympic bronze medallist Natalia Bukowiecka - 51.52 to 51.87.

Other highlights included Pia Skrzyszowska winning the 60m hurdles title in 7.96 after a 7.91 clocking in her heat and Paula Ligarska winning the pentathlon title with a lifetime best of 4615 points.

On the final day of the Italian Indoor Championships in Ancona, reigning European outdoor champion Leonardo Fabbri defeated reigning European indoor champion Zane Weir for the shot put title - 21.85m to 21.76m.

World indoor bronze medallist Zaynab Dosso won the women’s 60m title in a fast 7.07 and Andrea Dallavalle leapt to second on the 2025 world list with 17.36m in the triple jump, just five centimetres off Max Hess’ world lead.

At the British Indoor Championships in Birmingham, European silver medallist George Mills won the men’s 3000m title in a championship record of 7:40.16 while there was an upset in the women’s 3000m with Hannah Nuttall outsprinting Laura Muir in the last 80 metres - 8:49.49 to 8:50.16 - with two-time European U20 cross country champion Innes FitzGerald third in 8:52.56. 

Olympic bronze medallist Georgia Hunter-Bell eased to the 1500m title in 4:13.23 while European U23 100m champion Jeremiah Azu won the men’s 60m title on the first day in 6.56. 

On the final day of the French Indoor Championships in Miramas, Thibaut Collet cleared 5.82m for victory in the pole vault ahead of Renaud Lavillenie (5.76m)and 2021 European indoor champion Wilhem Belocian won the 60m hurdles title in 7.52 by just 0.01 from Just Kwaou-Mathey.

At the Portuguese Indoor Championships in Pombal, Jessica Inchude won a competitive shot put with 19.18m ahead of Auriol Dongmo who continues her comeback from a broken leg with a second-place finish with 19.00m.

1500m specialist Isaac Nader dropped down in distance to win the 800m in a national indoor record of 1:46.18 and Patricia Silva won the women’s 1500m in 4:05.02 from Salome Afonso in 4:05.04.

At the Norwegian Indoor Championships in Baerum, Henriette Jaeger achieved a 200/400m double in 23.08/51.77 with Havard Bentdal Ingvaldsen winning the men’s 400m in 46.39. European heptathlon record-holder Sander Skotheim picked up individual titles in the long jump (7.84m) and high jump (2.12m).

At the Swedish Indoor Championships in Vaxjo, Wictor Petersson broke the 50-year-old national record with 21.49m in shot put, improving the previous mark set by Hans Höglund with 21.33m in 1975. 

On the second day, Julia Henriksson won the women’s 200m in a national indoor record of 22.84 while Erik Erlandsson won the men’s 200m in 20.50 ahead of 19-year-old William Trulsson who set a European indoor U20 record of 20.69.

At the Slovenian Indoor Championships in Novo Mesto, multiple continental medallist Tina Sutej cleared 4.60m in the pole vault.

At the Bulgarian Indoor Championships in Sofia, in-form Bozhidar Saraboyukov won the triple jump with 16.53m and the long jump with 8.00m.
